so recently the nytimes travel section featured the 41 places to go in 2011.
i immediately started taking notes for when i will once again be able to take an extended vacation. i've had iceland swirling around in my head for awhile now. these pictures alone made me want to transport myself there through some fancy time travel machine; but trekking to this nordic island somehow feels too remote, damp and cold at the moment. I'm a bit more thirsty for rugged dry terrain, and a warmer climate. {south america} occupies the southern portion of the landmass referred to as the new world. i've longed to experience the rich cultural landscape of this continent and despite some of my worldly travels it is a destination that has eluded me all these years.
a dear friend recently took a trip to the "End of the Earth" as he described it {buenos aires. santiago. patagonia} and with one look at his photo journal i must say these images have captured my heart and i vow to make this dream a reality {very soon} i hope.

i can't help but think {sam peckinpah} and {lucien ballard}
whatever your destination today or tomorrow i hope you enjoy the adventure.
